چکیده
Modified Ziehl–Neelsen staining for Mycobacterium leprae is a time-tested technique in the evaluation of leprosy. The helps to classify clinical types leprosy into those with low and high bacillary load. It also useful assessing response therapy, identifying defaulters, differentiating relapse from late reversal reactions. In this net educational video, we demonstrate taking an ear lobe smear performing modified acid fast bacilli.

A modified technique for high-resolution staining of myelin.
This report describes a new modification of the Gallyas method for staining myelin in fixed brain tissue and compares results of multiple myelin-visualizing techniques in normal common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus), normal macaque monkey (Macaca mulatta), and a human with multiple sclerosis. The new modification involves immersion in 10% formalin following impregnation in ammoniacal silver nitr...
متن کاملModified Giemsa staining for rapid diagnosis of malaria infection.
OBJECTIVES To develop and evaluate a rapid method for the diagnosis of malaria infection by microscopy of stained blood films. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Blood specimens were collected from randomly selected confirmed malaria cases (n = 75) and suspected malaria cases (n = 175). The microscopy was done on each set of blood films stained by modified and the standard Giemsa staining methods. RESULT...
متن کاملModified cold Z-N staining for presumptive identification of Brucella.
Brucellosis is one of the most common zoonotic diseases in India. Growth of Brucella is slow and needs meticulous biochemical tests and antisera for confirmation of the isolates. In the present study modified cold ZN staining was tried on the broth cultures for early presumptive identification of Brucella growth. Blood cultures were attempted in 22 seropositive patients. In the five blood cultu...
متن کاملModified Field's staining--a rapid stain for Trichomonas vaginalis.
Trichomonas vaginalis, a flagellate protozoan parasite commonly found in the human genitourinary tract, is transmitted primarily by sexual intercourse. Diagnosis is usually by in vitro culture method and staining with Giemsa stain. There are laboratories that use Gram stain as well. We compared the use of modified Field's (MF), Giemsa, and Gram stains on 2 axenic and xenic isolates of T. vagina...
متن کاملA Modified Procedure for Lead Staining of Thin Sections
Meta l impregnat ion , or "s ta in ing ," of tissue sections for electron microscopy has become the accepted practice in recent years. Salts of metals of h igh atomic weight such as u ran ium, chromium, thor ium, lead, or tungsten, among many tested, have been found suitable (6, 1). "Lead hydroxide ," as prepar ted by Watson (6), is now widely used, hu t this solution is extremely unstable in a...
